blue_society@hotmail.comI am a member of the self-centred generation which has been brought up with messages of self-esteem hammered into our minds throughout our school years. From the time we were old enough to talk, we've been indoctrinated with the theology that extols our great uniqueness, how each one of us is a special little snowflake with limitless potential. To use a Brave New World metaphor, we were raised to believe that we could all be Alpha-Double-Pluses, or at least alphas, if only we believed in ourselves enough.
What this has created is an insatiable generation with a deep sense of entitlement. Combined with our technological literacy, this has led to the blog explosion: we believe that everyone, friends and strangers, should be fascinated with the minute details of our everyday lives. Aren't we special, after all? Aren't we unique? Doesn't that give us a monopoly on the chronicles of Us? Or rather, since we are INDIVIDUALS, the chronicles of Me?
I am a member of this generation.
My sense of uniqueness combined with my flair for writing and a slight exhibitionist tendency has led to this Livejournal, a slightly graphic account of my daily adventures.
But, just between you and me, it's better than those of my peers.
I am more interesting.
More unique, with more limitless potential than them.
